Woman pinned under car after vehicle, with engine left running, rolls forward

IPOH: Firemen were called in to rescue a woman who was trapped under her car after it suddenly rolled forward and knocked her down when she got out to open the gate to her house.

The 38-year-old victim sustained injuries to her legs in the incident, which occurred at Taman Temara here at 3.39pm on Sunday (July 5).

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the woman had left the car’s engine running when the vehicle suddenly moved, causing her to fall and become pinned underneath it.

“Members of the public rushed to help and attempted to free the woman but were unsuccessful before firefighters arrived.

“Firefighters from the Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station reached the scene at 3.43pm and found the victim trapped beneath the car,” he said in a statement on Sunday (July 5).

He said the rescue team carried out an assessment before using an air lifting bag and a hydraulic cutter to lift the vehicle and free the victim.

“She was handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment,” he added.
