PAGOH: Incumbent Layang Layang assemblyman Abd Mutalib Abd Rahim has quit Umno and will be contesting the seat under the Perikatan Nasional ticket.

The two-term assemblyman said that he has officially joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Abd Mutalib, who was also a former state executive councillor in 2013, said that he does not hold any ill feelings against Umno.

"I decided to join in to defend this seat based on the feedback I got from my voters," he said during a press conference at Pagoh Bersatu office here on Thursday (June 25).

He said the constituency has about 60% Malays.

The Layang Layang state seat has since been swapped with MCA.

In the 2022 state election, Abd Mutalib contested and won against PKR's Mazlee Malik for the seat.
