KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has confirmed Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin's return as Opposition Leader as of Thursday (June 18).
A seating reshuffle in Parliament also moves former Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin away from the opposition frontbench.
Announcing his ruling at the start of the Dewan Rakyat sitting here on Monday (June 22), Johari said Hamzah, the Larut MP, resumed the role following a brief period during which Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (PN-Kemaman) served as Opposition Leader.
"Based on the notifications that I have considered, I have decided that Larut was the Opposition Leader until May 20.
"After that, Kemaman became Opposition Leader from May 21 until June 10, and now Larut has returned as Opposition Leader effective June 18, 2026," he told the House.

Johari thanked Ahmad Samsuri for his service during the period and welcomed Hamzah back to the position.
The confirmation comes amid a broader reshuffle within Perikatan, which has also resulted in changes to the opposition bloc’s seating arrangement in the Dewan Rakyat.
Under the latest seating plan published on Parliament’s official website, Muhyiddin, the Pagoh MP and Bersatu president, has been moved to Block E after previously occupying a seat beside the Opposition Leader on the opposition frontbench.
Hamzah’s seat remains unchanged at the front row of the opposition bloc and he is now seated next to Ahmad Samsuri, who currently chairs Perikatan.
The Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to sit for 16 days from today to July 16.
