Form One student assaulted in Cheras school

PETALING JAYA: A Form One student is believed to have been physically assaulted by a schoolmate in an incident at a school in Cheras in April.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received a report on the incident on April 16.

"Investigations revealed that the incident occurred in front of the school cooperative store and is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement over seating arrangements in the school canteen between the victim and the suspect.

"During the incident, the suspect allegedly choked the victim from behind and verbally provoked him," he said in a statement on Friday (June 19).

He said the victim was referred to a hospital for treatment on the same day.

ACP Mohd Rosdi said the school had taken disciplinary action against the suspect following a committee meeting involving the police, school authorities and the students' guardians on April 20.

"The suspect was issued a warning and suspended from school," he said.

He added that the case has since been resolved and appropriate action has been taken by the relevant parties.
