PETALING JAYA: A father suffered burns while his son experienced breathing difficulties after a fire gutted the double-storey terraced house they were living in at Taman Seri Istana Hills, Klang, early Friday (June 19).
The incident, which occurred at about 5.23am, involved the 57-year-old father and his 28-year-old son. The fire destroyed about 70% of the house.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said personnel from the Klang Selatan Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene to carry out firefighting operations.
He said the operation was assisted by personnel from the Klang Utara Fire and Rescue Station, involving a total of 13 firefighters, two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engines and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.
“The fire involved a double-storey terraced house and was brought under control at 5.47am. There were two victims. The father suffered burns to his wrists and head, covering about 10% of his body, while his son experienced breathing difficulties,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Ashrul Riezal said both victims were given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in the EMRS vehicle.
He added that the firefighting operation concluded at 7.50am.
