JETP to drive Maju Johor 2030 agenda, says Onn Hafiz

JOHOR BARU: The success of the Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP) and the Maju Johor 2030 agenda now lies in the hands of Johoreans, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The caretaker Mentri Besar said Johor was on the right track, having achieved several milestones, including strong economic growth and billions of ringgit in investments.

“The choice is in the hands of Bangsa Johor — whether they want to continue with the Maju Johor development plan or choose a different path.

“We are already halfway through the journey. The foundation has been built and the results are beginning to show. Now, our responsibility is to ensure this journey reaches the finish line,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after launching the JETP at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre here on Thursday (June 18).

Earlier in his speech, Onn Hafiz said the JETP would serve as the main catalyst for the Maju Johor 2030 agenda.

“Today is not merely the launch of a document, nor is it simply the launch of an economic plan. It is a defining moment for Johor’s future.

“We are gathered here today to launch the JETP, an economic transformation plan that will serve as the main catalyst for the Johor state government’s major aspiration to become a developed state by 2030,” he said.

Onn Hafiz also called on Johoreans to remain united as they decide the state’s direction.

“In a divided world, Johoreans must stand united. Johor must be Johor.

“We are in a marathon, and we are halfway through the race.

“We must choose whether to turn right or left. What we have started, we must see through to completion,” he said.

The dissolution of the Johor state assembly was announced by Onn Hafiz on June 1, following the consent of Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

The Election Commission has set July 11 as polling day, with nomination day on June 27 and early voting on July 7.
