Cops nab four in Lahad Datu over alleged gang rape of 14-year-old

KOTA KINABALU: Four men were arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl at a house in Kampung Batu 1 along Jalan Segama in Lahad Datu last month.

The suspects - three locals and a foreigner, all in their 20s - were detained following a police report lodged by the victim, Lahad Datu OCPD Asst Comm Dzulbaharin Ismail said.

He said the incident is believed to have occurred at around 2am on May 9 when the four men entered her room while she was sleeping.

He said preliminary investigations found that the suspects allegedly entered the victim’s room before forcing her to engage in sexual acts one after another.

“The case only came to the attention of the victim’s family several days later before a police report was lodged. Our investigations led to the arrest of the suspects,” he said in a statement.

He said all suspects have been remanded for seven days and were being investigated for gang rape under Section 375B of the Penal Code.
