Shop worker hurt in Baling gang robbery


BALING: A retail shop worker in Kampung Kuala Lesung, Kuala Ketil near here was injured in a robbery involving four men, one armed with a machete, on Monday (June 1).

Baling OCPD Supt Brandon Anak Richard Joe said police received a report on the incident involving the victim, in his 20s, at 9.02pm that day.

"At 8.45pm on Monday, the man was approached by four male suspects travelling in a white car.

"All four suspects were wearing helmets, masks, jackets and gloves, and one of them was carrying a machete," he said in a statement on Thursday (June 4).

He said the armed suspect attacked the victim, causing minor injuries to his back.

"The victim was robbed of cash and taken to Hospital Baling for treatment.

"The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery,” he said.

He added that police are tracking down the suspects, and anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation. – Bernama
