JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) says it will defend the Puteri Wangsa state seat in the upcoming Johor election.
In a statement yesterday, the party said its victory in Puteri Wangsa in the last election showed that Johoreans were willing to give a new brand of politics based on integrity, courage and commitment to public service an opportunity.
Muda said the party, led by president and incumbent Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, has a pool of capable young leaders ready to represent the people at various levels.
“Johor is a dynamic state with immense potential. However, the challenges faced by the people today require more than old politics and familiar faces.
“It requires leaders who understand the aspirations of the younger generation, are bold enough to pursue reforms and are prepared to defend the interests of the people,” the statement said.
The party said that more young people should be given the opportunity to lead and contribute directly to decision-making at the state level.
“As such, Muda is determined to retain the Puteri Wangsa seat to ensure that the voices of Johoreans continue to be represented and championed.”
