Small fire breaks out at hardware chain in KL mall

KUALA LUMPUR: A small fire broke out at a popular hardware chain in a shopping mall here on Tuesday (June 2) evening.

The city's Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said that the fire was reported to the authorities at 3.53pm.

A team of firefighters were then deployed to the scene at the MyTown shopping centre.

The department said the source of the fire was a faulty LED lighting panel inside the premises.

“However, the fire had already been successfully extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system before the firefighters arrived,” the statement said.
