Man dies after tree falls on car in interior Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A 33-year-old man was killed by a falling tree while driving along the interior Sepulut-Kalabakan road on Monday (June 1) afternoon.

In the approximately noon incident, the victim and his wife were heading towards Kalabakan when a tree fell and crashed onto the vehicle.

“Initial probe found that the tree fell due to its rotten trunk, and hit straight on the front side of the vehicle,” said Keningau deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Alizam Dalaman.

He said the man sustained head and bodily injuries and died when receiving emergency treatment at the hospital, while his wife escaped with minor injuries.

He said the weather was fine and the roads were clear during the incident.

Deputy Supt Alizam said a post mortem will be conducted to determine the victim’s cause of death.
