Grad repays mum’s sacrifices by donating kidney to her

UNABLE to bear his mother’s suffering from kidney disease, a 25-year-old man embodied the spirit of Hari Raya Aidiladha by donating one of his kidneys to her, reported Kosmo!.

Hariz Zulfa Mustafa said he decided to donate one of his kidneys to his mother Datin Seri Dr Zuliah after watching her battle kidney failure for 15 years.

Despite her declining health, Zuliah continued to work as a senior lecturer at a public university while also raising her children.

Hariz Zulfa said this was his way of repaying his mother for all the sacrifices she had made for him after seeing her rely on dialysis treatment since 2011.

“My mother gave me life, so what is wrong with me sacrificing and giving ‘life’ back to my mother?

“I could no longer bear to see my mother continue depending on dialysis and wanted her to enjoy life again,” the University of Melbourne graduate said.

The transplant surgery was successfully carried out on April 11 after months of medical assessments to ensure compatibility between the donor and the recipient.

Now recovering at home, Hariz Zulfa said the experience had helped him appreciate every moment he spends with his mother even more.

> Actress Siti Khadijah Halim has closed the door on the possibility of getting married anytime soon, saying she would rather marry late than marry the wrong person.

The 29-year-old actress said she would rather remain single than make the mistake of rushing into a relationship and marrying someone unsuitable.

“Rather than wasting time trying, it is better to find the right person.

“Love can be explored and searched for, but finding the right person is difficult.

“So I would rather marry late than rush into marrying the wrong person, as I only want to get married once in my life. Remarrying would probably be tiring,” Kosmo! reported the Seoul Cinta actress as saying in a recent podcast.

However, she did not rule out the possibility that she was still searching for a partner who was responsible and capable of taking care of himself.

“I want a responsible man who takes care of even the smallest things in his life without needing to be told, such as washing the dishes he used or hanging up his towel after showering,

“If a person cannot even do that, then he is likely not ready for marriage,” she said.
