KUALA LUMPUR: Three Myanmar nationals, including a woman, have been remanded for seven days until May 25 to help in the investigation into the death of their fellow countryman in Kepong.

Sentul deputy OCPD Supt Jasni Zolpa (pic) said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were arrested on Monday (May 18).

"Initial investigations found that the incident was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding that led to a fight between the victim and all the suspects, who were intoxicated, resulting in the victim’s death," he told a press conference at the Sentul district police headquarters on Friday (May 22).

He said the body of the 39-year-old victim was discovered under the MRT Metro Prima bridge along Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 1, Kepong, by members of the public at 1.40pm on Sunday (May 17), and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

In another development, Supt Jasni said police detained a man and three women to help with investigations into a fight in Sentul believed to have been caused by personal disputes and debt issues.

"All the suspects were remanded for two days, and the remand period ends today.

"We have also identified three more suspects, and efforts to track them down and arrest them are ongoing," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons. – Bernama
