Home Ministry seeks RM4.3mil to upgrade GOF 3rd Battalion Camp

TAPAH: The Home Ministry will submit an application for a financial allocation of about RM4.3mil to upgrade facilities at the General Operations Force (GOF) 3rd Battalion Camp in Bidor.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the allocation is crucial to enhancing the welfare of personnel and logistics at the camp, given that the GOF bears significant responsibility for maintaining national security and public order.

“Today, GOF Northern Brigade commander Senior Asst Comm Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh requested additional funds for this camp, amounting to about RM4.3mil.

“I will forward this matter to the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim),” he said during a strategic working visit to the GOF 3rd Battalion on Monday (May 18).

Also present was Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

Saifuddin said the request by SAC Balveer Singh follows several previous successful applications, including RM40mil in 2024 to refurbish about 50 GOF posts, as well as RM18mil for GOF infrastructure development in Kulim, Kedah.

He added that such ground visits, to directly assess the welfare and logistical needs of the GOF, reflect the government’s appreciation for the security force’s extraordinary commitment to curbing cross-border crime.

Saifuddin said the role of the GOF is among the most critical elements of the country, as the public is able to go about their daily lives in peace without worry thanks to its contributions.

“We know that safeguarding the borders cannot rely on assets alone; it is not sufficient. We must also be equipped with the latest radar systems,” he said. – Bernama
