KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed appreciation to educators nationwide in conjunction with Teachers' Day 2026, describing teachers as the heartbeat of the nation and key to shaping future generations.
In a Facebook post, the Deputy Prime Minister said that behind every successful individual, whether a doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, leader or other accomplished person, is a teacher who patiently guided and shaped their character.
"A teacher's name may not always be mentioned, but their contributions remain deeply etched in the lives of their students.
"In their firmness, there is compassion; in their fatigue, there is responsibility; and in every lesson they impart, there is a great hope to see the nation's children succeed," he said.
Ahmad Zahid said the theme of Teachers' Day 2026, "Guru Bitara Nadi Negara" (Exemplary Teachers, Heartbeat of the Nation), reflects appreciation for the sacrifices and sincerity of educators in shaping the country's future generations.
"Teachers are the pulse that drives the power of knowledge and shapes the future of the nation. Without teachers, there would be no generation equipped with knowledge, values and the ability to lead the country towards a better future," he said.
Ipoh is hosting the 55th National Teachers' Day celebration, which began on Friday (May 15) and will run for two days.
Meanwhile, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan expressed appreciation to educators nationwide for their service, sacrifices and dedication in educating and shaping the nation's future generations in conjunction with Teachers' Day 2026.
In a Facebook post in conjunction with the May 16 Teachers' Day celebration, he said this year's theme, Guru Bitara Nadi Negara, aptly reflects the important role of teachers as a pillar of the nation's strength.
"Teachers not only impart knowledge in the classroom, but also serve as mentors, character builders and a source of inspiration for every child to achieve success," he said.
Ramanan said that behind every successful individual is a teacher who had educated, guided and encouraged them tirelessly.
"I deeply appreciate the commitment and dedication of teachers who continue to serve with sincerity despite the many challenges in an ever-evolving education landscape.
"Indeed, the contributions and sacrifices of teachers cannot be repaid with words. However, all Malaysians undoubtedly appreciate the efforts and service they have rendered for the future of our children and the progress of the nation," he said.- Bernama
