Three-year-old falls from fifth floor in Johor Baru


JOHOR BARU: A toddler is in critical condition after falling from the fifth floor of a flat at Bandar Uda Utama near here on Tuesday (May 12) at 10.30am.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said the boy, who is nearly three, is hospitalised at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Baru.

“We believed that the victim had fallen from the windows of one of the flat units,’’ he said in a statement on Thursday (May 14).

ACP Radin Ramlan said initial investigations found the victim had climbed over a sofa near the windows of the living room, which were ajar.

“The victim was found lying in the parking area of the block with head and neck injuries as well as internal bleeding,’’ he said.

ACP Radin Ramlan said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, adding the police could not share other details as the investigation is ongoing.

He called upon those with information on the case to contact the Johor Baru North Police District Headquarters at Hotline 07-5563122, to assist with the investigation.
