Babysitter charged with murder of seven-month-old boy


PETALING JAYA: A babysitter has been charged at a Magistrate's Court here with the murder of a seven-month-old boy who died at a nursery in Bandar Kinrara, earlier this month.

Balqish Mohammad Dzyhan, 28, shook her head to signal she understood the charge after it was read out before Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad here on Thursday (May 14).

No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly murdered Muhammad Eiden Faheem Mohammed Nor Syafiq at a nursery in Kinrara Commercial Unit, Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, at 10.40am on May 5.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a death sentence or jail between 30 and 40 years and a minimum of 12 whippings, if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor Ainul Athirah Jamalullail prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Datuk Suraj Singh.

The case is fixed for mention on July 14.
