Man charged in Ipoh murder case


IPOH: A 53-year-old unemployed man was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here for the murder of a woman in Taman Desa Aman here.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code was read to Foon Choon Kheong before Magistrate Evangelin Simon Silvaraj yesterday.

When asked by the court interpreter whether he understood the charge, Foon acknowledged but denied committing the offence.

However, no plea was recorded by the court.

Foon is accused of killing Woo Chui Fun in a house at the residential area between 4.40pm and 10pm on May 4.

If convicted, he faces the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.

It was reported that the victim had multiple injuries on her body, head and neck.

A machete was said to have been recovered at the house.

Magistrate Evangelin set Aug 3 for mention.
