Man, 53, claims trial to murdering senior citizen in Ipoh


IPOH: The 53-year-old man who allegedly murdered a senior citizen in Taman Desa Aman here has been charged at the Magistrate's Court.

Foon Choon Kheong is said to have murdered Woo Chui Fun in a house in the residential area last Monday (May 4) between 4.40pm and 10pm.

When asked by the court interpreter whether he understood the charge, Foon agreed but denied committing the offence.

No plea was recorded.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Zulqarnain Wan Asmira requested the court to deny bail, as it was a serious offence under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

It was reported that the victim was found with multiple injuries on her body, head and neck.

A machete was said to have been recovered at the premises.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin had also reportedly said that the suspect, who is unemployed, was once a patient at Hospital Bahagia Hulu Kinta.

Magistrate Evangelin Simon Silvaraj set Aug 3 for mention and submission of the chemical and post-mortem reports.

Lawyer Khesminkapil Singh Dhanoa represented the accused.
