IPOH: The body of a 45-year-old man was found in a river near Seberang Manong, Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah, Kuala Kangsar, in Perak.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said that a distress call regarding the incident was received at 12.47pm on Saturday (May 9).
“We received a call from MERS 999 informing us that the body of an adult male had been found in the river by the public.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the operation commander found the 45-year-old victim in the river, positioned next to a boat near the riverbank,” he said in a statement.
“The police were also at the scene when the machinery arrived,” he added.
He said that the operation commander conducted an initial assessment before instructing personnel equipped with full personal protective equipment (PPE) and personal flotation devices (PFD).
“This is to enter the river and bring the victim to the riverbank, where the body is placed on a stretcher,” he said.
He added that the victim was pronounced dead by the police before being handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
