Police report against Chegubard was for 'slanderous, intolerable remarks', says Loke

SEPANG: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke says the police report against Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, was for allegedly defamatory remarks linking him to the crisis in Negri Sembilan.

Loke said Chegubard’s remarks were slanderous and intolerable.

"That’s why I asked my political secretary to lodge a police report against Chegubard," he told the media on Tuesday (May 5) when asked about the matter.

Loke’s political secretary Ho Weng Wah lodged the police report on Monday (May 4) at Seremban district police headquarters following a Facebook post by Chegubard titled "Anthony Loke must be investigated for funding an illegal entity – Majlis Dato Lembaga Adat Sungei Ujong."

Ho was quoted as saying that the post contained allegations that Loke, who is also Transport Minister, had channelled a substantial amount of money to an entity claimed to be illegal.

He said it also linked the matter to recent issues involving the royal institution in the state.

"The statement and post made by the individual are also believed to touch on sensitive 3R issues (race, religion and royalty), which could potentially incite tension and divide the community," Ho said.

On a related matter, Loke stressed that DAP stands firm in rejecting any move to change the Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar.

"We do not agree with this. We support (Datuk Seri) Aminuddin Harun and will not agree with any attempts to change the Mentri Besar," he said.
