KOTA TINGGI: A mother and her teenage daughter were killed in a two-vehicle accident at KM71 of Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing here on Friday.
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said police received a report on the fatal crash at about 5.15pm.
He said the accident involved a car driven by a 56-year-old local man, with two passengers aged 51 and 14, and another car driven by a 27-year-old local man.
“The two passengers of the first car, believed to be a mother and her daughter, suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer,” he said in a statement.
Supt Yusof added that the driver of the first sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the intensive care unit of Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru.
“The driver of the second car did not suffer any injuries,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Those with information on the incident are urged to contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Kota Tinggi district police headquarters.
Supt Yusof also reminded road users to stay vigilant and adhere to traffic laws and regulations.
