JOHOR BARU: In its continued commitment to corporate social responsibility, local property developer Faire Development has recently completed the expansion project of the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI) classroom at SJK(C) Seelong.
The initiative aims to address the previous issue of limited and overcrowded classroom space, creating a more spacious, comfortable and inclusive learning environment for special needs students.
The special education classroom at SJK(C) Seelong has long faced challenges due to limited space. With a gradual increase in student numbers, the existing classroom became overcrowded, affecting both teaching quality and students’ learning experience. In response, Faire Development stepped forward by allocating resources to carry out the classroom expansion and upgrading works, bringing a refreshed and improved learning space for both teachers and students.
This expansion project not only increased the classroom size but also enhanced the overall learning environment design. Improvements include better ventilation and natural lighting, SPC floorings to replace the used tiles, new set of tables as well as a more flexible classroom layout to accommodate the diverse learning and activity needs of special education students.
Faire Development managing director Kenneth Lim said: "We believe that every child deserves access to a fair and quality learning environment.
“This expansion project is not only a contribution to education but also an effort to create a safe and inclusive space where special needs children can feel a sense of belonging and grow in a better environment."
Faire Development chief executive officer Richard Woon said: "A company’s growth is inseparable from the support of society and we have a responsibility to give back.
“Through this special education classroom expansion project, we hope to provide a more inspiring and secure learning environment, allowing children to explore their potential and grow happily in a more spacious setting. This is also an important step in our ongoing CSR efforts."
SJK(C) Seelong principal Ling Chee Ngiu said that the school currently has 12 special needs students, including those diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), hyperactivity, slow learning development and dyslexia.
“Due to limited classroom space, both teachers and students had long conducted lessons in a relatively cramped environment.”
School board chairman Koh Leong Kuang expressed sincere appreciation for Faire Development’s generous contribution, noting that the new classroom will significantly enhance teaching efficiency and learning comfort, bringing positive and long-term impact to special education development.
Moving forward, Faire Development will continue to uphold its brand philosophy of “Build with Heart, Manage with Integrity”, actively participating in more community and education-related initiatives to create positive and lasting value for society.
