Magnitude 3.4 temblor hits Kundasang in wee hours


KOTA KINABALU: A weak 3.4 magnitude earthquake hit Kundasang early Tuesday (April 21).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) recorded the quake at around 3.02am, 8km from Ranau at a depth of 10km.

The department urged those who felt the tremors or any information on the quake to fill up a form at https://forms.gle/DnwLTgE6V3mYWBv1A.

State Fire and Rescue Department officials conducted a sweep around Ranau and Kundasang at around 6.35am to check on damages or casualties.

So far, things are under control with no injuries or damage to properties reported.

The Fire and Rescue Department said it will continue monitoring the situation and is prepared to face any eventualities if aftershocks occur.

They advised the public to remain calm but alert, and to report any incidents immediately.

The public is also advised to follow instructions which might be issued by the authorities following this matter.
