Four Undang dispute MB’s claim over Mubarak’s removal

SEREMBAN: The four Undang of Negri Sembilan have disputed a claim by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun that the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) had advised that the Undang of Sungei Ujong, Datuk Mubarak Dohak, be removed as a ruling chieftain.

"We would also like to state that Aminuddin is no longer fit to lead the state administration and should be replaced," they said.

In a signed statement on Tuesday (April 21), the four — Undang Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah, Undang Rembau Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin, and Mubarak — said the contents of a media statement released by Aminuddin's office on April 17 were untrue.

"The DKU members who were present on the said day did not make a collective and unanimous decision on the matter during the special session.

"As such, the MB's statement is not true and is not in accordance with the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959," they said.

The four said they did not agree to Mubarak's removal, which was apparently carried out by the Luak of Sungei Ujong in line with Article 14(3) of the state law.

They also disagreed with the contents of another media statement issued by Aminuddin on April 20.

"As such, we support and agree with a declaration made on April 19 to depose the 11th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan and to install the next state ruler,” they said

On April 17, Aminuddin's office released a statement saying that the DKU had advised the Luak (major district) of Sungei Ujong to accept Mubarak's removal.

He said this followed a meeting between the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, who chairs the DKU, and council members and elders from Sungei Ujong.

He said that during the session, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz, and the DKU members were presented with 33 reasons for removing Mubarak as the Undang.

The process, Aminuddin said, was carried out in accordance with Rule 14(3) of the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959.

Three days later, in another statement, Aminuddin said his government refused to accept or recognise a declaration read and signed by Mubarak on the removal of Tuanku Muhriz.

Mubarak had read the declaration in the presence of the three other Undang after a meeting at Balai Undang Luak Sungei Ujong on Sunday evening.

Aminuddin said this was because Mubarak no longer held authority as the Undang of Sungei Ujong, having been removed from the post on May 13, 2025.

The removal, Aminuddin said, was due to 33 offences related to traditions and customary laws that Mubarak allegedly committed.

Mubarak's removal, he said, was also carried out in accordance with Article 14(3) of the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan.
