PASIR MAS: A 53-year-old man was sentenced by the Sessions Court here on Tuesday (April 14) to 30 years’ imprisonment and 18 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
Judge Zulkpli Abdullah handed down the sentence after the accused admitted to six charges.
The court sentenced him to 10 years’ jail and six strokes of the cane for each of two charges, with all sentences ordered to run concurrently from the date of arrest on April 6, 2026.
According to the first to third charges, the man committed the offences at a house in Tanah Merah between midnight and 4am on March 31, Nov 12 and Dec 5, 2025.
On the fourth to sixth charges, he was charged with having sexual intercourse with the same victim at the same location at 1am on March 27, 28 and 30, 2026.
The charges were framed under Section 376B (1) of the Penal Code, which provides a prison sentence of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years and also whipping upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Aiysha Na'ilah Harizan, while the accused was unrepresented. — Bernama
