Two charged over KLCC assault involving ‘photo touts’

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men arrested over the assault of two victims near the Petronas Twin Towers have been charged in court.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said the duo were among 18 individuals detained in a police operation following the March 22 incident.

“Fingerprint checks on three of the suspects found no records, and they are believed to be non-citizens. They are expected to be charged tomorrow,” he said when contacted on Monday (March 30).

Earlier, police arrested 18 men aged between 17 and 45 for allegedly assaulting two men and causing head injuries in an incident involving suspected “photo touts” at the landmark.

In a previous statement, ACP Sazalee said the altercation occurred after the victims confronted a group who were allegedly assaulting a male tourist.
