Thunderstorm, heavy rain warning issued for several states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas in the Peninsula, Sarawak and Sabah until 5pm on Sunday (March 29).

MetMalaysia said the states expected to be affected in the Peninsula are Penang (Southwest, Northeast and Seberang Perai Utara); Perak (Batang Padang and Muallim); Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub and Rompin); and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru).

In Sarawak, the areas set to be affected are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro and Matu), Kapit, Bintulu (Tatau) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the areas likely to be hit are the interior regions (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort and Nabawan), the West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu). - Bernama
