Unemployed man arrested for slapping teen at Pasar Seni LRT station

KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been arrested for allegedly slapping a teenager at a food outlet at the Pasar Seni LRT station on Tuesday (March 24).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said the 44-year-old unemployed suspect, who has one prior record related to narcotics, was detained by the roadside along Jalan Masjid India at about 3.40pm.

"The suspect admitted to slapping the victim, causing him to fall, as he was angered by the victim picking his nose beside him while waiting in line to buy bread," Sazalee said in a statement.

He added that a remand application would be made on Saturday (March 28) to facilitate investigations under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Earlier, it was reported that the 13-year-old victim was injured after being slapped by an unknown man at the food outlet at Pasar Seni LRT.

The victim reportedly said he had gone straight to the counter after noticing there was no queue, before being suddenly slapped by the man.
