Sabah declares additional holiday for Hari Raya

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has announced an additional public holiday for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, depending on the actual date of the celebration this year.

The state government said that this is in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's recent announcement.

Either Friday (March 20) or Monday (March 23) will be observed as an additional public holiday, it said in a statement.

Under a Special Government Gazette dated Wednesday (March 18), the Yang di-Pertua Negeri has designated Friday as the additional holiday if Hari Raya falls on Saturday (March 21); and Monday as the additional holiday if Hari Raya falls on Friday.

Anwar had announced the dates during his visit to Sabah on Sunday (March 15).
