Man detained after car crashes into six vehicles in Sibu

SIBU: A 24-year-old man, who tested positive for drugs, has been detained to assist investigations after the car he was driving allegedly rammed into six other vehicles along Jalan Wong Soon Kai here on Thursday night (March 12).

Acting Sibu District Police chief Supt Boniface Bajai said police received a report on the incident at 9.55pm and preliminary investigations found that a Toyota Vios driven by the man was travelling straight towards the traffic light junction at Jalan Wong Soon Kai.

"As the vehicle approached the junction, it failed to stop at the traffic lights and crashed into six vehicles in front of it," he said in a statement on Friday (March 13).

Boniface said no serious injuries were reported, although all the vehicles involved sustained significant damage.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving on a public road. – Bernama
