Man dies in Kota Damansara house fire


KUALA LUMPUR: A 54-year-old man died in a fire which broke out at a double-storey semi-detached house in Jalan Kenyalang 11/6B, Kota Damansara, Selangor, on Thursday (March 5).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 9.09am.

"Upon arrival, the house was about 40% burned, and the victim was found unconscious on the balcony at 9.30am.

"The victim was confirmed dead by medical officers at 11.15am. The body has been handed over to the police," he said in a statement.

He added that they managed to bring the blaze under control by 9.45am, while the cause of the fire and the total losses are still under investigation.

The operation involved 17 personnel and fire engines from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Damansara station. - Bernama
