13 Bersatu MPs collectively voice support for Hamzah to stay on as Opposition Leader


PETALING JAYA: 13 Bersatu MPs have collectively reaffirmed their support for Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to remain as Opposition Leader in Parliament.

In a letter dated Feb 24, 2026, Bersatu chief whip Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee informed Perikatan Nasional chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan that the decision was made collectively and by a majority among the party’s MPs.

The letter stated that all 13 Bersatu MPs agreed to support and retain the Larut MP as Opposition Leader in accordance with Standing Order 4A.

“Bersatu MPs will continue to focus on championing the people’s voice, upholding national interests and carrying out their check-and-balance role responsibly, especially with the upcoming Parliament sitting just days away,” he said.

An attachment to the letter listed the names of the 13 MPs who backed the decision: Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Datuk Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Datuk Rosol Wahid, Datuk Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Datuk Muslimin Yahaya, Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah, Khairil Nizam Khirudin, Zakri Hassan, Datuk Roslan Hashim, Datuk Nordin Ahmad Ismail, Kalam Salan and Islahuddin Abbas.
