Three students die in crash

MELAKA: Three secondary school students were killed while another was seriously injured in a three-motorcycle collision in Jalan Paya Tambak here.

The three died on the spot due to multiple head and bodily injuries in the 4am accident yesterday, said Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit.

An 18-year-old youth was seriously injured and had been admitted at Hospital Melaka.

The three students who died were Muhammad Azmi Abdul Rahimah, 16, a student of SMK Bukit Katil; his pillion rider Nur Khairiah Mat Mazlin, also 16, who studied at SMK Air Molek; and Muhammar Adiff Farihin Mohd Anuar, 15, a student of SMK Bukit Katil.

“All four victims did not possess valid driving licences. Their family members were also unsure why they were out riding in the early hours of the morning,” he added.

ACP Patit said early investigations found that one of the motorcyclists was travelling from Bukit Katil towards Tiang Dua, while the other two were coming from the opposite direction when the head-on collision occurred.
