Woman allegedly molested in rented house


PETALING JAYA: A 27-year-old woman was allegedly molested while asleep in a rented house in Jalan Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Basri Sagoni said police received a report on the incident at 1.49am on Thursday (Feb 19).

“The victim, a local woman who works as a hotel manager in Kuala Lumpur, claimed she was asleep in her room at the rented house when she was allegedly molested by a male suspect,” he said in a statement on Monday (Feb 23).

He added that the suspect, a 33-year-old Indian national who is also a tenant in the same house, allegedly touched the victim’s private parts.

“The suspect fled the scene after the victim screamed upon realising what was happening,” he said.

ACP Basri said the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty.

“Efforts to trace and apprehend the suspect are ongoing,” he said.
