KUALA LUMPUR: Against a backdrop of growing water security challenges across the region, Asiawater 2026 2026 hosted an exclusive media briefing, offering a first look at the 14th edition of the premier water and wastewater event for developing Asia.
The upcoming showcase will take place from April 7 to 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
The preview comes at a pivotal time as Malaysia and its neighbours face climate-driven floods, water supply disruptions, ageing infrastructure and growing demand from urban and industrial expansion. These challenges underscore the urgent need for resilient, technology-driven water services to safeguard economic development, public health and long-term sustainability.
Held under the theme “Building Nations: Leveraging Technology-Driven Water Services for Inclusive Growth,” Asiawater 2026 highlights the critical role of modern water infrastructure in supporting households, industry, and sustainable urbanisation. From digital monitoring and automation to non-revenue water reduction and resilient wastewater management, technology-enabled solutions are increasingly recognised as essential drivers of inclusive and sustainable growth.
“Since its inception, Asiawater has been driven by a clear and unwavering purpose: to provide a dynamic platform where the water and wastewater industry converges to exchange knowledge, showcase innovative solutions and foster meaningful partnerships,” said Informa Markets Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat.
“Over the years, the event has grown exponentially in scale and influence, underscoring the critical importance of water as a strategic priority for nations across the region.”
The event is backed by strong government support, with strategic participation from the National Water Services Commission (SPAN). Their involvement signals alignment between national policy priorities, regulatory frameworks and industry innovation, reinforcing Asiawater’s role as a neutral platform for collaboration and progress.
“From a regulatory perspective, Asiawater serves as a bridge between policy and implementation,” said National Water Services Commission (SPAN) chairman Datuk Abdul Kadir Mohd Din.
“The technologies, solutions and knowledge shared through this platform help utilities meet regulatory expectations — whether in managing water losses, improving operational efficiency, strengthening resilience, or enhancing wastewater and environmental performance."
Asiawater 2026 is expected to attract government ministries, regulators, utilities, industrial water users, consultants, and technology providers from across the region.
Designed as a buyer-focused and decision-driven platform, the event enables stakeholders to evaluate proven technologies, benchmark solutions, and engage directly with experienced partners.
Now in its 14th edition, Asiawater has firmly established itself as a trusted regional marketplace and knowledge platform for the water and wastewater industry.
The event is expected to welcome over 20,000 trade professionals from 52 countries, featuring 1,000 exhibiting brands and companies.
Key solution areas span the entire water and wastewater value chain, including water treatment and purification, wastewater and sludge management, non-revenue water reduction, flood mitigation and drainage, digital water and smart utility systems, automation, membranes, filtration, desalination and energy-efficient, low-carbon technologies.
The exhibition will feature 14 international country pavilions, including Austria, China, Germany, Singapore, the United States of America, Australia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Korea, and the Netherlands, showcasing proven innovations designed to be adaptable to diverse regulatory, climatic, and operational conditions.
Beyond the exhibition floor, Asiawater 2026 will host over 50 free-to-attend conferences, forums and technical sessions.
Informa Markets and the University of Nottingham Malaysia also formalised their collaboration with an on-stage Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) exchange for ICWES 2026. The exchange was represented by Abdul Rahman and Prof Dr Teo Fang Yenn of the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
The ceremony symbolised a shared commitment to advancing academia–industry collaboration, driving research-led innovation and accelerating sustainability initiatives within the water and environmental sectors across the region.
