Iskandar Puteri cops nab three, seize over RM275,000 worth of drugs


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested three men and seized drugs worth RM275,234 in two separate cases in Iskandar Puteri.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the first case involved the arrest of a 34-year-old man who was found inside a vehicle with drugs in his possession in Gelang Patah on Jan 26.

“A total of 5,171.35g of syabu worth RM258,550 was seized and a car was also confiscated, bringing the total value of the seizure to RM271,050.

“The suspect who tested positive for methamphetamine has prior records related to drug offences,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 4).

He added that the suspect has been remanded from Jan 27 until Feb 7 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Upon conviction, the offence carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, and may also include whipping,” he said.

In a separate case, ACP Kumarasan said two local men, both aged 35, were arrested inside a house in Gelang Patah at about 5pm on Jan 29.

“Police seized 13 packets containing drugs believed to be 1,555.51g of heroin and 8.49g of syabu worth RM16,683.90.

“A car and a motorcycle were also seized during the raid, bringing the total value of the seizure to RM68,683.90,” he said.

He added that both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and have several past records related to crime and drugs.

“The suspects have been charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Upon conviction, they face the death penalty or life imprisonment and may also be subjected to whipping,” he said.

He urged the public to continue providing information related to drug trafficking activities in their surroundings.
