Cops probing alleged sexual harassment by e-hailing driver

JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating an alleged sexual harassment incident after a video showing an e-hailing driver touching the legs of a female passenger went viral on social media.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said police received the short video clip showing the incident involving the suspect and the victim.

“However, checks found that no police reports have been lodged regarding the viral incident so far.

“But the police are in the process of identifying the individuals involved, along with witnesses, and determining the cause of the incident,” he said here on Monday (Feb 2).

ACP Raub urged the public not to share the video on any social media platform to avoid misunderstandings or speculation that could disrupt public harmony.

“Police are committed to ensuring public safety is always upheld and will provide further information when the investigation is complete,” he added.

He also said that anyone with information about the case should contact the Johor Baru South police district headquarters hotline at 07-2182323.
