Woman runs amok in Ipoh eatery, two workers injured

IPOH: The police have arrested a 29-year-old woman who ran amok at an eatery in Taman Tasek Damai and injured two workers there.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the incident occurred after a worker behind the counter at the premises had rejected her request to transfer money into her account on Wednesday (Jan 28) at about 6.26am.

"The woman proceeded to injure the worker behind the counter and another worker with a dangerous object.

"She also broke a glass barrier of a food counter and took about RM400 from the counter drawer," he said in a statement.

"The two workers sustained minor injuries and have sought outpatient treatment," he added.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the woman would be investigated under Sections 324, 427 and 380 of the Penal Code for causing hurt using weapons, mischief and theft in a building.

"The people are advised not to speculate on the incident and spread unverified information that could impact investigations," he added.
