Three reports lodged over video of alleged child neglect at daycare

PETALING JAYA: Police have received three reports that a child under care was locked up at a daycare here, following a viral social media post in recent days.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said the reports were lodged between Wednesday (Jan 21) evening and Thursday (Jan 22) morning.

"We have received reports concerning a child being locked up, as (claimed) on social media.

"Investigations found that the boy, who is 11 years old, has been sent to the daycare since he was five," he said in a statement.

He added that a statement was also recorded from social media influencer Caprice, whose real name is Ariz Ramli.

ACP Ramsay also provided an update on the submission of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage related to the case.

"Some parties have handed over CCTV footage, and seizures will be carried out.

"The case is still under investigation. It is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001," he said.

The section covers abandonment, neglect or exposure of a child to danger that may result in physical or emotional injury.

Prevously, a video showing the daycare’s condition and the reported actions of a caretaker involving the child went viral on social media.
