Ahmad Zahid, ministers extend Israk Mikraj greetings

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and several ministers have extended their Israk Mikraj 1447H greetings, calling on all Muslims to reflect on the significant event in Islamic history.

Ahmad Zahid, in a Facebook post on Friday (Jan 17), said that the momentous event serves as a reminder of a journey of faith that demands conviction, obedience, and steadfastness of heart.

"May our reflection on Israk Mikraj continue to nurture our relationship with Allah, strengthen the practice of prayer (solat) in our daily lives, and guide our steps toward the well-being of the ummah (community) and the progress of the nation, God willing,” he said.

Israk Mikraj commemorates the miraculous journey of Prophet Muhammad from the Masjidil Haram in Makkah to the Masjidil Aqsa in Jerusalem, before being ascended to the Sidratul Muntaha.

This event established the five daily obligatory prayers, which serve as the pillar of a Muslim's life and a symbol of obedience to the commands of Allah.

In a post on X, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the event is not just a tale of the Prophet’s miracle, but a call for Muslims to collectively strengthen their faith, refine their character, and uphold trusts among one another.

"Israk Mikraj reminds us that in every journey of life, our relationship with Allah is our true strength. May this reminder inspire us to continue moving forward with humility, leading with compassion (ihsan), and serving with full sincerity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu noted that Israk Mikraj serves as a reminder of the strength of faith and the bond between a servant and their Creator.

He highlighted that the command of prayer born from this event acts as a source of peace, discipline, and spiritual strength.

He added that while the nation strives for development, true progress must be rooted in the values of honesty and integrity as taught by the event.

"These values are the heartbeat of all levels of society, including farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen who work hard for their families' livelihoods and the nation’s survival. They are the nation’s food heroes.

"Every drop of sweat is a trust, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure their welfare is protected and their future is championed.

"May this Israk Mikraj commemoration unite our hearts and strengthen our resolve so that Malaysia continues to be built on compassion, justice, and prosperity for all,” he said. — Bernama
