Umno flag hoisted to officiate general assembly

KUALA LUMPUR: Against a backdrop of red and white, Umno’s general assembly officially began on Friday (Jan 16) with the ceremonial hoisting of the party’s flag, Sang Saka Bangsa.

The ceremony began with the flags of the three Umno wings - Youth, Wanita, and Puteri - being hoisted as their official songs were sung.

The event was witnessed by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and other party leaders.

Dressed in a red baju Melayu, Ahmad Zahid later raised the Umno flag, accompanied by the party’s official song "Bersatu, Bersetia, Berkhidmat."

He was joined by deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

Delegates from the party’s three wings were also in attendance.

Ahmad Zahid will deliver his presidential address later, followed by debates from delegates.

Umno’s Youth, Wanita, and Puteri Wings held their annual meetings on Thursday (Jan 15) with the general assembly scheduled to end on Saturday (Jan 17).
