Umno AGM: Party must rebrand itself to regain the people's trust

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno needs to focus on rebranding itself in order to move forward, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

When delivering his policy speech, the Umno president said the party must prove to the people that it has value and this starts with transforming the party from within.

"Umno can no longer rely on nostalgia and slogans anymore. We must prove that the party can provide a new value proposition to the people.

"Rebranding efforts need to be followed with a complete transformation – not a temporary one but a total cultural change," he said at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur here on Friday (Jan 16).

Ahmad Zahid said the gap between what the people want and what the Umno does is widening.

"The people are not satisfied with mere welfare services; they want comprehensive solutions to solve everyday problems.

"Umno needs to read current sentiments and dare to change in line with the people's aspirations if we want to fully regain the people's trust," he added.
