Floods: Number of victims drops in Sarawak


BINTULU: The number of flood victims housed at three temporary relief centres (PPS) in Sarawak dropped slightly to 415 people from 123 families as of 4pm on Friday (Jan 16), compared to 427 people from 129 families in the morning.

The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement that 185 victims from 53 families are placed at the Suarah Bintulu Hall centre.

Meanwhile, the Balai Raya Sebauh PPS is housing 150 people from 49 families, while the Sri Kemena SMK Sebauh Hall is sheltering 80 people from 21 families.

Sarawak has been enduring floods since Dec 31, 2025, with several areas around Kuching inundated following a continuous downpour. – Bernama
