KTMB introduces RTSM, special excursion train service for Chinese New Year


KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has launched a special Chinese New Year excursion train service, RTSM (Railway to See Malaysia), between KL Sentral and Padang Besar in February.

KTMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri said the service was intended as an alternative travel option.

"By introducing this special train, KTMB offers a more comfortable travel option, particularly for the elderly and families with young children," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 12).

He said the special service would operate on Feb 13, 14, 16, and 17, with 1,344 tickets available for sale starting Monday.

"Ticket sales begin today at 12pm via KTMB's official channels. One-way fares start from RM70 for the Superior Class and RM90 for Superior Class Sleeper," he added.

According to the statement, the special train would depart from KL Sentral Station at 10.30pm and arrive in Padang Besar at 7.28am the next day for journeys on Feb 13 and 16.

Meanwhile, for travel on Feb 14 and 17, the service from Padang Besar to KL Sentral would depart at 10.00pm and arrive at 6.44am the next day.

The train would stop at 11 key stations, including Sungai Buloh, Tanjung Malim, Kampar, Batu Gajah, Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar, Taiping, Sungai Petani, Alor Setar, and Arau, before terminating at Padang Besar.

Tickets can be purchased via cashless methods through the KTMB Mobile app (KITS), ticketing kiosks, ticket counters, and the official KTMB website at www.ktmb.com.my. – Bernama
