SEPANG: AirAsia is offering fixed-fare tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Sarawak at RM328 and to Sabah at RM398 for one-way travel in conjunction with Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The matter was announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who said the initiative ensures Malaysians can return home with affordable fares during the festive season.

“I am pleased to note AirAsia’s continued role in supporting the government’s efforts to manage festive travel demand through initiatives such as fixed fares, which provide travellers greater confidence when planning their journeys home, particularly for those travelling between Kuala Lumpur and Sabah and Sarawak.

“These fixed fares are aimed at giving Malaysians greater certainty as they plan their festive journeys and supporting family reunions during these meaningful celebrations,” he said at the AirAsia Fixed-Fare announcement event here yesterday, Bernama reported.

The fixed-fare initiative covers 1,578 flights over Chinese New Year and Hari Raya, offering more than 31,000 seats.

Bookings for Chinese New Year travel is open now until Feb 24 for trips from Feb 13 to 24, while Hari Raya bookings are open until March 26 for travel between March 18 and 26.

In a related development, Loke said the government will continue the RM400 FLYSiswa voucher programme this year to ease travel costs for students commuting between Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak.

“The FLYSiswa initiative for this year will be rolled out next week,” he said at the event that also saw the presence of AirAsia Malaysia chief executive officer, Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra, and Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia chief executive officer, Datuk Capt Norazman Mahmud.

On Wednesday, the Transport Ministry said it will hold the FLYSiswa 2026 Carnival on Jan 13 at Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Cultural and Arts Centre from 9am to 4pm.

It said eligible students will receive a digital voucher in the form of shell credit, which can be used to purchase economy-class flight tickets, either one-way or return, with Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, Firefly and MASwings.
