KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian teacher pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court to three counts of sexually assaulting two minors who were his students.
The man, who worked at an Islamic primary school here, admitted yesterday to sexually assaulting two of his students on three separate occasions from 2024.
The 40-year-old was charged with two counts involving an 11-year-old boy, where the offences took place at the teachers’ room of a school in April 2024 and a classroom in November this year.
He also pleaded guilty to committing a similar offence against another 11-year-old boy in the teachers’ room at the same school in February this year.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act.
The accused, who is married, faces a maximum jail term of 20 years and a whipping under Section 14(a) of the Act.
Meanwhile, he also faces additional punishment under Section 16(1) of the same Act, whereby if the offender is in a relationship of trust with the child in question, it provides for imprisonment of up to five years and a mandatory minimum two strokes of the rotan for each charge.
Judge Noridah Adam adjourned the sentencing to a later date.
