KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider was injured after hitting a vehicle at a traffic light intersection at Kolombong, near here, on Thursday (Jan 1).
The victim was believed to have run the red light and rammed into the side of a car that was making a turn after the traffic light on the latter’s side turned green.
Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said following the 9.55am mishap, the motorcyclist died from severe head injuries.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10am,” he said in a statement.
He said the other injured man and the vehicle driver, who was also hurt following the accident, were taken to the hospital for further treatment.
ACP Kasim said police were on the scene to take evidence and other information to facilitate investigations into this case under the Road Transport Act 1987.
