Sacking of assemblymen demonstrates PAS's commitment to principles, trust, says Perlis MB

KANGAR: The decision of PAS to immediately terminate the membership of three Perlis State Assemblymen (ADUN) shows the party's firmness in defending its principles, discipline and the trust of the struggle.

Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said that everything that happens has a lesson, reported Sinar Harian.

"The actions taken by PAS prove that the principles, discipline and trust of struggle are always upheld," he said in a post on his Facebook on Thursday.

Mohd Shukri was commenting on PAS's media statement regarding the suspension of three assemblymen: Saad Seman (Chuping), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong), and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji).

Earlier, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the decision was made through a special meeting of the PAS Central Working Committee members, which convened at the PAS President's Office in Rusila, Marang, Terengganu, on Wednesday (Dec 24).

According to him, the meeting had decided based on Clause 76 and Clause 15A(1)(b) of the PAS Constitution (Amendment 2025) that the membership of the three elected representatives concerned would cease immediately.

Abdul Hadi said the party would officially inform the Speaker of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly of the decision to fulfil the provisions of Article 50A(1)(a)(ii) of the Perlis Government Constitution (Amendment) Enactment 2022.

Previously, local media reported unrest within the Perlis Perikatan Nasional, where eight Perlis assemblymen were alleged to no longer support Mohd Shukri's leadership.

They are alleged to have handed over the SD to the Perlis Palace last Friday (Dec 19).

According to the report, the group allegedly included three PAS assemblymen and the rest from Bersatu.

Perlis has 15 state assembly seats, and in the 15th General Election (GE15), Perikatan made history by winning 14 seats, while Pakatan Harapan won only one seat in the Indera Kayangan state assembly.
