DAP should ‘break up’ with its partners and leave the Madani govt, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: DAP should break off cooperation with its partners and leave the government if it truly despises crooks, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) in response to Tony Pua’s remarks.

“If Tony Pua truly despises the so-called ‘crooks’ and ‘crook lovers’ so much, why is DAP still partnering with these same ‘crook lovers’? If he’s serious, he should just ask his party to break off all collaboration and leave the Madani government,” the MCA president said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 23).

After Monday’s (Dec 22) verdict on Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s failed house arrest bid, Pua who is DAP's disciplinary committee chairman said in a Facebook post that both him and DAP are proud that they played a role in the downfall of a “kleptocrat”.

“There is absolutely no need to sympathise with such a crook. Those chastising us to have 'humanity', who continues to love the crook - no one's stopping you. But don't stop the rest of us Malaysians from celebrating justice upheld. Looking forward to his next conviction later this week!” added Pua.

Meanwhile, MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon (pic above) has hit back at DAP National Publicity Secretary, Yeo Bee Yin, for her social media post on the verdict of Najib’s house arrest case.

Yesterday, the High Court dismissed Najib’s judicial review in an attempt to serve the remainder of his jail term in the RM42mil SRC International Sdn Bhd case under house arrest.

Chong said the remarks are an example of the incivility and uncouthness of DAP leaders and their lack of empathy.

“It needs to be stressed to Yeo and other DAP leaders that, even if we differ in political ideology, no matter how much one may detest another, one should not rejoice at another person’s difficulties. It is only ethical to refrain from celebrating and revelling in the tears of others,” he said.

“How long will it take for politicians to become mature and refrain from actions like these that unleash controversy and fragment society?” added Chong.

The remarks from the DAP leaders have stirred reactions from their partners in the government.
